Check Out Socialized Med. In Britain–

My last two articles were on health care and now here’s my third. Since Washington has caved on the health care bill and the Dems., are licking their chops about single payer. Let’s take a rid over to England (you know where the National Health Service refused to treat baby Charlie Gard) and see what they’ve just decided for the rest of their serfs I mean citizens.

There is no better place to see a failed socialized health care system them Britain. At the moment it’s plagued by chronic shortages, substandard care, and dangerous rationing. The Telegraph is reporting that the NHS is now cutting-off access to surgical procedures depending on a person’s body mass index (BMI) If that were in America that would be half the population.

Denying surgical access to obese persons and those who smoke embodies the concept of death panels. According to the Telegraph “Hospital leaders in North Yorkshire said that patients with a body mass index of 30 or above – as well as smokers – well be barred from most surgery for up to a year amid increasingly desperate measures to plug a funding black hole.

The restrictions will apply to standard hip and knee operations.” Wowzer! That puts into print what we already intuitively knew about socialized medicine: the group that pays determines who stays. If you’re not politically connected, in perfect health, or wealthy, you may as well get your last will and testament in order. A single-payer system is too expensive to maintain without rationing, and rationing puts a price on human life.

Sure there should be incentives for good health choices, but it shouldn’t be a matter of life or death. In a free-market system, people who don’t take care of their health pay higher premiums, but they aren’t denied treatment. In short, in a free-market system bad health choices will cost you more money, in socialized medicine it will cost you your life.

For Republicans with regard to OCare, failure is not an option. If it’s not repealed a future Dem. President. and Congress will move in that direction. Trump has already signed on and if you’ll be honest stated what a wonderful system the British has for healthcare. Of course he has nothing to worry about, and now we know Congress doesn’t either. (See earlier post “You cheated, You lied, You said we could trust you.)

The result of single payer is that you loss your personal autonomy, personal responsibility and the concept of inherent dignity of every individual. This is too high a price to pay for the false sense of security socialized medicine may provide. Just ask the people in England who like to eat cheeseburgers how that “free healthcare” is working out for them. And remember, they’re paying as much as 70% of there income to the government for socialized medicine. What a bargain!

And remember, Charlie Gard could be your baby!
